O Mother, You are the Mother of this whole world, Kali; Hail, oh You Durga bearing skulls. Hindus sing about Your good nature! O Mother, all of us are singing Your arati!

In this world, the relationship between Mother and child is dear; we have heard that a child can betray, but we have never heard of a mother’s betrayal! O, You bestow mercy and rain nectar on us all! You solve the problems of the unhappy people. O Mother, all of us are singing Your arati!

We are not asking for money and wealth, neither silver nor gold. We are only asking to have a corner-place inside Your heart. O, You are the One who solves the problems of all, who keeps us away from shamefulness, who polishes the truth of true people. O Mother, all of us are singing Your arati!

The plate containing the items of puja (worship) is lying sheltered at Your feet. Oh Mother, remover of the problems afflicting the mind, please keep Your wish-fulfilling hand on my head. Oh Mother, with eight hands, please grant me Love and devotion for You. Let the devotees offer Your arati.

ambe tū hai jagadambe kālī

tere hī guṇa gāyeṁ bāratī

O maiyā, hama saba uttāreṁ terī āratī (2)

ambe tū hai jagadambe kālī
