Nīla-Sūktam

nī̱ḻāṁ de̱vī(g)ṁ śara̍ṇam-a̱haṁ prapa̍dye | gṛ̱ṇā̱hi̱ |

ghṛ̱tava̍tī savita̱r-ādhi̍patyai̱ḥ paya̍svatī̱r-anti̱rāśā̍no astu |

dhru̱vā di̱śāṁ viṣṇu̍-pa̱tnyagho̍rā̱ ‘syeśā̍nā sa̍ha-so̱yā mano̱tā̎ |

bṛha̱spati̍r-māta̱riśvo̱ta vā̱yuḥ sa̍ndhuvā̱nā vātā̍ a̱bhi no̍ gṛṇantu |

vi̱ṣṭa̱mbho di̱vo dha̱ruṇa̍ḥ pṛthi̱vyā a̱syeśā̍nā̱ jaga̍to̱ viṣṇu̍-patnī ||

Do be gracious unto us. Rich in ghee, O Mother, through your sovereignty be the bounteous region rich in milk, for us. The firm among the quarters; Lady of Viṣṇu, the mild, ruling over this strength, the desirable, Bṛhaspati, Mātariśvan, Vāyu, the winds blowing together, be gracious unto us. Supporter of the sky, supporter of the earth, ruling this world, O Lady of Viṣṇu.

ma̲hā̲de̲vyai ca̍ vi̲dmahe̍ |

viṣṇu-pa̲tnyai ca̍ dhīmahi |

tanno̍ nīḻā praco̲dayā̎t ||

We meditate on the great Goddess, we fix our minds on the wife of Viṣṇu. May Nīḻā inspire us.

oṁ śānti̱ḥ śānti̱ḥ śānti̍ḥ ||
